MIGUEL RUIZ SANTOS

Miguel Ruiz Santos.
He was born in Infantes (Ciudad Real) to a family of musicians. From an early age, he has been interested in music, embarking in his musical studies in the wind band of his hometown and in the Ciudad Real Conservatory, where he finished his professional studies with honors, obtaining the Regional Music Award in Professional Education of Castilla la Mancha.
He then moved to Madrid to continue his studies with Justo Sanz at the Real Conservatorio Superior de Música, finishing successfully in 2013.
It was in Madrid where he first came in contact with the world of jazz and began studying at the Escuela de Música Creativa, where he completed his training, learning improvisation, contemporary harmony, composition and arranging.
Upon his graduation, he won a scholarship (CONEXUS Foundation) for a Master studies at the prestigious Berklee College of Music, expanding his jazz and modern music styles at the Master in Jazz and Contemporary Music Performance.
As a musician and classical music performer, Miguel has played as a soloist on many occasions and has been part of several orchestras and chamber groups, such as the Enara-Quintet, with which he won the 1st prize at the National Competition of Chamber Music "Francisco Salzillo 2010" and toured Europe: Moltepulciano Chamber Festival, Siena (Italy), Beethoven-Festival, Bonn, Essen Music Festival (Germany) In addition, he has premiered several new classical music pieces and collaborated with several important composers.
As a musician and jazz performer, he is a founding member of Half Past Clars, Guitarinet Jazz Dúo or Improvisus Ensemble and has been involved with various groups of different musical styles, many of them formed at Berklee: “La Manoucherie”, the Mediterranean Music combo with Perico Sambeat, the Latin Jazz ensemble with Victor Mendoza,Cuban Ensemble with Alain Pérez, Contemoporary jazz group with Polo Ortí or the Berklee Mediterranean Institute with Javier Limón can be highlighted.
Miguel has an album in the market titled "Jazz Chamber Music" with his duet Guitarinet Dúo, available in this website and all the digital platforms.
Currently, he is working on producing a new album with original compositions and arrangements, which mixes several styles. He is also the creator of the website "clarinetjazz.es"
